Francis W. Parker School Chicago, Illinois Completion: Ongoing Area: Expansion - 80,000 square feet; Renovation - 55,000 square feet Publication: American School and University Architectural Portfolio Site & Program: F. W. Parker School is a private JK-12 school. Nagle Hartray defined the program and master planned expansion in 1992. We provided design services for the programmed expansion and renovation of all facilities across all grades within the boundaries of the school’s urban site. Design: Nagle Hartray worked closely with school staff and parents to develop a phased plan to meet the program needs of the school without interruption of classes. The project team also worked closely with local residents to insure the expanded facility would remain a good fit with the existing community fabric. Nagle Hartray expanded the vocabulary of the existing architecture by introducing new forms such as the vaulted gymnasium roof. The resulting campus exhibits a unified and contemporary identity that remains a good neighbor to its community. Photography: ©David Clifton Photography and ©Bruce Van Inwegen |
