Holy Family Village Skilled Care
Lemont, Illinois

Area: 55,000 square feet

Award: Excellence in Masonry, Silver Medal

Site & Program: This building is part of Holy Family Village, a Catholic Charities development that also includes Nagle Hartray-designed Bishop Lyne Retirement Residence and Poor Clare Monastery (see portfolio RELIGIOUS section). This 99-bed skilled care facility provides skilled nursing, intensive rehabilitative therapies, Alzheimer’s care, and community outreach programs.

Design: The landscaped entry court is defined by the chapel on one side and resident rooms on the other. Nagle Hartray organized resident rooms into “neighborhood” clusters that share living and dining areas. The plan is anchored by the 200-seat chapel, which is a focus for the daily life of residents as well as for visitors.

The relaxed character of the masonry buildings reflect their building’s rural setting. The architecture recalls traditional housing models and sets a standard for other development at Holy Family Village.
