Nagle Hartray Builds!
"Cantastic Voyage" Awarded “Jurors' Favorite”
On June 4, Nagle Hartray sponsored and participated in Canstruction
Chicago 2008, the second annual design/build competition to benefit the
Greater Chicago Food Depository. Nagle Hartray was one of twenty teams
comprised of architects, engineers, contractors, and the real estate
community from the Chicago area to
build a colossal structure made entirely from cans of food. All of the
structures will be on public display June 6 - 23 and at the end of the
exhibit, all food will be donated to the Greater Chicago Food Depository.
This year the event will donate $5,000 cash and over 90,000 pounds of food,
which will provide over 67,000 meals.
The structures were judged by a blue-ribbon panel of jurors including Alpana
Singh, Billy Dec, John Carroll, Jimmy Bannos, Craig Vespa, and Zoka Zola.
Nagle Hartray proudly announces that with over 6,000 cans of spinach, fruit
salad, beans, tuna, and bottled water used to build "Cantastic Voyage", the
team took the top honor of "Jurors' Favorite" and will proceed onto the
national competition at the AIA Convention in 2009. Click here to see the

Cool Globes in D.C.
Last year, Nagle Hartray designed and built a globe installation for
"Cool Globes: Hot Ideas for a Cooler Planet," an innovative public art
project along Chicago’s lakefront. This year, the Nagle Hartray team was
invited to reconstruct our Cool Globe at the U.S. Botanic Garden in the “One
Planet – Ours! Sustainability for the 22nd Century” exhibit running May 24th
through October 13th. See the construction of our globe:
