Lincolnshire Village Hall Lincolnshire, Illinois Completion: 1993 Area: 28,000 square feet Awards: Illinois Indiana Masonry Council “Excellence in Masonry Award”; Chicago AIA “Distinguished Building Unbuilt Design Award” (preliminary design) Publication: Architectural Record Site & Program: The 5.4-acre site is centrally located in this north shore community. The program included meeting rooms, administrative offices, and the police department, which includes an emergency response center and detention facilities. Design: Nagle Hartray organized the building around a courtyard that separates public meeting rooms from administrative and police offices. The plan opens to a spring-fed pond and allows daylighting throughout the interior. Building forms echo local residential design. An ornamental program that includes masonry detailing, railing design and floor patterns is derived from the village logo. The new Village Hall immediately became a symbol for the community and was a catalyst for the redevelopment of Lincolnshire’s downtown. Nagle Hartray master planned the downtown and prepared urban and architectural design guidelines as a tool for the Village.
