Site & Program: The site is a working farm of several hundred acres. This residence will eventually become the family’s permanent residence.

Design: Nagle Hartray’s unusual “farmhouse” design builds upon the firm’s tradition of residential design. The modern plan with large picture windows reflects the family’s desire for open interiors and visual connections to their land. The house consists of three buildings linked by decks and trellises – the main house, a guest house and the garage.

The exposed post and beam structure provides a rational framework in which to organize exterior and interior finishes. Natural wood planking and siding provide a consistency to finishes inside and out. Trellises and sunscreens protect the large areas of glass from direct sunlight.
