The firm established by Jim Nagle and Jack Hartray soon became known within the architectural community as a good place to learn the craft of architecture. Dirk Danker and Howard Kagan joined the firm in the 1970s, and Don McKay and Eric Penney in the 1980s. The range, complexity and scale of the firm’s work continue to grow under their leadership. They are supported by Associate Principals Julianne Scherer Johnson, Heather McGuinn, Rocco Castellano and Monica Gruse-Hartman, all of whom share ownership in the firm.



The range of our work across building type and scale requires ongoing creativity, which has allowed us to attract and retain excellent talent – one-third of our staff has worked together for more than ten years.
